This server backup software is easier to use than many, and it supports most backup media types, including all disk type devices. We also experienced that their email customer service response time was quick, thorough and knowledgeable. Additionally, this software has good encryption options and can handle all types of schedules, including complex popular scheduling protocols.

This software is the first product on this end of the review list that does not perform disk imaging. However, it does offer the rest of the backup tools we were looking for, including open file backup via VSS support and active directory and volume support. Of course it also provides incremental and differential backup with compression and encryption if needed. It even offers you a choice of encryption levels from 56-bit DES to 256-bit AES with pass phrases.

This Windows server backup software has outstanding scheduling options. It can schedule by the minute, hour, day, week, month or even year. You can set your own rotation schedule or use a simple daily append, grandfather-father-son or a custom rotation. Yosemite also allows you to view your backup schedule in a calendar view. The upgraded versions can also manage complex tape rotation schedules utilizing barcodes for tape management.

The entry-level version of Yosemite server backup has some good restoration tools, but to get functions like bare metal disaster recovery you have to work with an upgraded version. The standard version can restore to system state and restore individual files. Additionally, you can use the Windows backup software to restore to a specific restore point. Yosemite also includes a quick wizard for creating bootable CDs or DVDs.

Yosemite server backup software works with a variety of backup devices, including tape. With this server backup software you can backup to all disk types, CDs, DVDs, autoloaders and robotic libraries. However, keep in mind that that the entry-level version can only be loaded onto one server. If you are going to work with multiple servers and complex library systems you will need the Plus, SBS or Unlimited edition.

This Windows backup software takes the complex process of backing up multiple workstations to multiple devices and makes it simple. We also found the layout of the main screen streamlined, well organized and easy to figure out. When you open Yosemite server backup it presents the choices of backup, restore, verify, copy media, create virtual library, make bootable CD/DVD, devices and licenses, with easy-to-understand icons. On the left side you can choose from tasks, jobs and media, status and logs, devices and advanced options. We also like that this server backup software can help you with your tape rotation or backup schedules with pre-formulated, commonly used rotation schedules.

Barracuda Networks offers some helpful free support options including email and telephone support 12 hours a day, five days a week. The free support also includes software updates. If you choose to upgrade to the enhanced maintenance and support plan, you can utilize 24/7 telephone support, both stateside and internationally. They also host an online user manual, help files and a technical forum with over 51,000 posts.

Summary:

Overall Yosemite Server Backup software is easy to use and comes with exceptional scheduling and encryption tools. Barracuda Networks also provides helpful free support. This is good Windows server backup software for those who do not need complete disk imaging.
